Djerriwarrh Classic Car Show Empty
PostSubject: Djerriwarrh Classic Car Show   Djerriwarrh Classic Car Show EmptyMon Jul 14, 2008 7:53 am

Hey All,

Well we have begun organising the car show for this years festival. I have attached below the minutes from our previous meeting with Melton Council

Melton Council meeting
Djerriwarrh Festival – Classic Car Show
8th July 2008

VENUE

Melton Council have made a few changes to the event program this year and as a result Hannah Watts Park is being utilised for another event. Joe Murphy from the council approached the club and offered Bakery Square as a new venue for our car show.
We are currently in the process of counting how many car spaces there are in Bakery Square to determine how many cars we are likely to get. Once we know how many there are we will allocate 2 cars for every 3 car spots to allow sufficient room either side of the vehicles. Also the service road area in front of Fleece Hotel facing High Street has also been offered to us where we hope to have Automotive Businesses displaying their products and services.
The plan is still to run the car show on the Saturday from 10am to 3.00pm. The benefit of this new venue is that it is closer to the action of the festival including the parade.

PARADE

This year we have requested that we be at the front of the parade and thus will be hoping to confirm our car numbers by the end of July. This will allow us to easily manoeuvre the vehicles after finishing the parade run. This year the parade is running a different route due to road closure issues experienced in recent years. The parade assembly area will be near Melton Valley Drive on High Street and the parade will travel in the direction of the centre of Melton and conclude at Palmerston Street. This will bring a lot more people to the area where we are having the car show..

PROMOTION/ADVERTISING

In the past we have approached businesses primarily in the automotive trade to sponsor our trophies. This year we are planning on approaching all the businesses in the Bakery Square area to sponsor a category. The benefit for the business is that the car show will bring an increased amount of people to Bakery Square and potentially customers. This would be a great opportunity in an area that in past festivals has been blocked off during the parade period on the Sunday. The car show will be promted more vividly in the Festival Program and flyers for the show will be made and distributed at other car related events and and hopefully in the shop windows on the businesses supporting the event.

We are hoping to hae meetings every month until November with the council to discuss to running of the show which all members are welcome to attend.

Also we are proposing a mid month meeting at the clubrooms on a Friday night to work on the organising of the show, which again all club members are welcome to attend.

So watch this space! Its going to be a big one this year!!

Cheers
